Ash Wednesday and Lent
25 December 2019 06:00
Do you feel a failure? Are there things you regret: things you wish you could put right? Do you yearn for something more? LENT is for you, for all of us.
The 40 days of Lent give us time to follow Jesus into the wilderness - to stop for a while, to listen to God as he speaks to us through the Scriptures and to pray. We fast and we give.
Ash Wednesday Service 26 February 7 pm Lyminster
At the heart of this service lies the ancient tradition of making the sign of the cross on peoples' foreheads with ash. This reminds us of our mortality, based on the idea from the book of Genesis that humans came into the world from dust and will return to it.
It is a time to express our sorrow over our sin and to be reminded of the forgiveness and freedom he brings.
Beginning on March 4, we will meet on Wednesday mornings and evenings, at the Vicarage. Either 10.30-12.00 or 7.00 - 8.30. We will be looking at St Paul's letter to the Philippians and encouraging one another in our Christian lives
